My husband and I farm a small piece of property in the Capay Valley of Yolo County, just north of Guinda CA. Over the last few years’, we have planted and tended to a mixed citrus orchard. We are excited to see our trees grow and finally start their productive years. We are in the process of becoming Certified Organic and have grown under the organic principles from the beginning. Our first variety of satsuma is called Okitsu Wase. We have loved how early this variety comes in as well as the sweetness and how easy to peel it is. Our second variety will be ready in late December and is called Frost Owari. This variety is much more common in the satsuma world. It is very sweet, a little smaller in size and has a thinner peel than the earlier variety.
