About Us
Tree Frog Flora is a half acre flower farm in Forestville, CA. We took over the growing space from Kelley and Eric's Urban Gardens in 2020. We grow a diversity of cut flowers, edible flowers, as well as some herbs and veggies. I am a student at the SRJC's sustainable agriculture program and am inspired by regenerative agriculture as a means to mitigate the climate crisis and heal the land and our relationship to it. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to be tending land and sharing what we grow with the community.
Practices
The garden is tended using organic and regenerative management practices. It is no-till, managed using only hand tools, and absolutely no chemical/synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, striving for as minimal fossil fuels as possible too. We care for the soil life by cover-cropping, composting, mulching for water conservation, erosion prevention, and soil-health preservation. Biodiversity is encouraged and native perennials and insectary plants are integrated to support native wildlife, pollinators, and beneficial insects. Integrated pest management strategies are employed when necessary. We are not certified organic, but only use certified organic amendments when necessary, but strive for soil-building amendments like our compost made on site, our neighbor's composted chicken manure, and cover cropping. The health of the soil and all of the biotic communities within it are integral for plant health, human health, and the health of all of our planet's ecosystems, and it's so important to preserve and regenerate it in all the ways we can.
